The view from sleeping bear dune
The season or time of year in Leelanau doesn't matter.
There is always something to do, to see, to visit.
Our favorite time on the peninsula is summer, with
the solstice's warmth embracing breezes along
shorelines including Sleeping Bear Dunes National
Lakeshore.
Leland's Fishtown area
Roasting Marshmellows
Rainy day? Poke through at
your own leisure in
mom-and-pop shops and at
upscale establishments in
bucolic villages like Northport,
Suttons Bay, Leland, Glen
Arbor and Empire or even
a little southwest in Traverse
City.
Sunny day? Peer out on
Lake Michigan's blue hues
and scope out the South
Manitou and North Manitou
islands. You can even take
a ferry ride.
Banks of the Leland River in Fishtown
A little too cool out? Idle your time away in the historic
fishing village of Leland, finding something to fill your stomach
at the Bluebird Restaurant & Bar or the Dam Candy Store or
checking out the shanties in Fishtown along the banks of the
Leland River.
